Pierre Gasly 2023 Austin F1 Full-Size 1:1 Replica Helmet

This season marks 50 years since the death of Francois Cevert. The former Tyrrell driver died in a high-speed crash at Watkins Glen in the 1973 United States Grand Prix, which was the site of his only Formula 1 race win two years prior.

Gasly will be wearing a helmet design that is almost identical to the one that his fellow Frenchman wore in F1. He is not the first F1 driver to have done so, as Jean Eric Vergne wore a Cevert inspired Helmet at the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix.

The Alpine driver presented his lid to Cevert’s former team mate Jackie Stewart, who called time on his career one race early in the wake of the fatal crash 50 years ago:
